COVID-19 Update: How We are Serving and Protecting Our Clients

We at the Law Offices of Joseph I. Lipsky are closely tracking the rapidly changing public health crises due to the new coronavirus or COVID-19. We are taking all available actions to remain accessible to our clients and our community as we continue to act in accordance with their best interests during this difficult time, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.

Unlike many states across the county, Florida has not yet issued a mandatory shelter in place order. However, there are many things we can do to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. The Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend:

• Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
• Staying home if you are sick;
• Avoiding touching your face;
• Abstaining from others;
• Avoiding public places, unless necessary for grocery or medication purchases.

Is your office currently open during normal business hours?

Yes, while our offices are physically closed, all attorneys, paralegals and secretaries are working remotely with full access to all files and case materials.

When and how can I contact you?

We remain “open” during regular business hours for all calls and emails. Our 24-hour hotline is manned around the clock for all emergencies.

What video chat platforms do you offer for clients?

Video conferences, required court appearances and depositions may take place via Zoom, Skype and Facetime.

Are you accepting new clients?

We are open for all new personal injury accident clients. We are able to rapidly communicate via video conference, email and text to help accident victims with all emergent matters.

How can I get updates regarding the status of my case or legal matter?

As all daily operations are ongoing, albeit from different locations, you may call our offices as usual to speak with us about your case.

Are courts of law still open in my area? Will my court date be rescheduled? What if I can’t come to court because I’m sick or quarantined?

Every county in Florida has different and continually updated policies for previously scheduled court matters. While Florida Chief Justice Canady suspended all jury trials until at least April 17th, hearings on motions and other matters are still taking place daily via conference calling and video teleconferencing, depending upon each Judge’s policy.

Will scheduled depositions, mediation, arbitration, or settlement negotiations occur as planned?

Many previously scheduled matters are being cancelled until our local governments allow less restrictive travel. As each case and situation is different, please call us with all questions regarding your particular case so we may update you appropriately.
